SHELTERS
A solarpunk workshop
Duration: 4-8h

2055. Temperatures rise above 50°C, the streets are empty, the asphalt burns, and homes are no longer enough to protect us. Those who can, search for another place to survive. Not by the sea, not in the mountains, but underground.
SHELTERS is a participatory speculative design workshop that transforms caves, dolines, and karst landscapes into future scenarios.
Through characters, scenarios, and collective decisions, SHELTERS invites participants to imagine an extreme situation: the Karst has become a network of underground climate shelters. But what happens when there is not enough space for everyone?
Who gets in? Who is left out? Who decides the rules?
Will caves become public spaces, self-organized communities, luxury refuges, algorithm-controlled facilities, or new territories to be conquered — or purchased?
Inspired by solarpunk imaginaries, SHELTERS does not simply tell a story of crisis. It tries to imagine new forms of coexistence, care, cooperation, and adaptation. The underground becomes a narrative laboratory where we can rethink the relationship between people, technology, resources, and ecosystems.
It is not about predicting the future, but about putting it into play.
